NBA Birthdays: Celebrating Players born on Nov. 23

The following NBA players were born on November 23rd and have made a significant impact in the league.

Vin Baker (1971): Baker, also known as, “Shake and Bake” was a beast in the paint throughout his 13-year NBA career. The big man was taken eighth overall in the 1993 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks and made four All-Star appearances. His final All-Star appearance was in 1998, when he was traded to the Seattle SuperSonics. He was one of the best players in the NBA in that five-year span, averaging 18.5 points, 9.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.3 blocks per game. Over the final five years of his career, Baker played for the Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers before retiring in 2006.

Andrew Toney (1957): Toney was the eighth overall pick in the 1980 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers. He spent his eight-year career with the Sixers, making two All-Star appearances through his first four seasons. Toney averaged 19.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 0.9 steals between 1983 and 1985. Unfortunately, injuries limited his playing time over the next three seasons and he retired in 1988. He was also a key piece to the Sixers’ championship run in 1983.
