New Delhi: The first Test match between India and Australia will be played in Perth. The question of what the batting order of Team India will be in the Test match starting on November 22 is a topic of much discussion. Media reports suggest that KL Rahul might open alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal in the absence of Rohit Sharma. However, Cheteshwar Pujara has expressed his disagreement with Team India's strategy. In a conversation with the media, Pujara stated that he does not support the idea of KL Rahul opening and he explained the reasoning behind his stance.

Pujara said that Rahul should not be allowed to open:
Cheteshwar Pujara said in a conversation with Criconext, ‘I do not know the batting order, I will not make KL Rahul open but I will make KL Rahul bat at number 3. KL Rahul has experience of handling pressure. I have heard that Padikkal can bat at number 3 because he is a left-handed batsman. Team India wants a combination of right and left hand. But I think it will be easier for KL Rahul to bat at first down.’

KL Rahul failed in unofficial test:
Cheteshwar Pujara’s point is correct because KL Rahul did not look set to open in the match against Australia A. This player failed in both innings against Australia A. Rahul could score only 4 runs in the first innings and 10 runs in the second innings. However, Rahul’s opening in Perth is considered certain. Another matter of concern for Rahul is that his form is not good. Also, questions have been raised about his place in the test team. Now if Rahul fails on the Australia tour as well, then he may be dropped from the test team.
