New Delhi: Rumors have been swirling about Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana's relationship with composer-filmmaker Palaash Muchhal for some time now. While their picture together during last year's WPL sparked speculation, the couple confirmed their relationship a few months later by posting on Instagram to celebrate their five-year anniversary. The news of Royal Challengers Bangalore women's captain being in a relationship with Palaash has since been making headlines.

The couple has avoided any public statements and never talked about each other in public. Palaash Muchhal has opened up about it for the very first time. He explained the reason behind keeping the relationship secret for so long: “I am very shy in public and an introvert. People don’t believe it as I have a lot of friends and I’ve been on stage as well. But even whenever I pose during events and parties, I feel very shy.”

Although, he doesn’t hesitate to praise Smriti: “I feel very proud, obviously, because I am her partner; boyfriend till now. I’m very proud of her achievements. But I like to keep my personal life private. This is the time I should work as much as I can.”

But how did it feel having his personal life become a subject of public interest this year? “It was a very uncomfortable situation for me because during WPL, I didn’t know that I was on camera when I was meeting her on the field. I didn’t realize it; otherwise, I wouldn’t have been on the ground. But now, it’s everywhere. Even in my shows, people keep shouting RCB, RCB,” he ends.
